About GermanFest 2022

The 2022 Germanfest will take place on Saturday October 8 all over the Athenaeum grounds. It runs from noon – 8 PM. It will mark the 14th annual edition of the event.

General admission is $15 for adults and $10 for children if purchased tickets are in advance. They are $25 for adults and $15 for children if bought at the gate.

All proceeds benefit the maintenance and care of the historic Athenaeum. The Athenaeum Foundation preserves the historic landmark that offers community wellness through arts and cultural activities.

Events and Activities

Germanfest events and activities include the following:

• Children’s Activities: These include arts and crafts and more.

• Brat Eating Contest: Whoever eats the most brats wins

• Weiner Dog Races: Find out who will be crowned top dog

• Live Music: There will be two stages of live music and entertainment

• Vendors: Local vendors will be selling their wares.

Note: You can register for the wiener dog race and brat eating contest when you buy your tickets. You can participate for $10.

Things to Do in Indianapolis

There are tons of things to do in Indianapolis. Here are some things to enjoy when you are not out at Oktoberfest:

• Rhythm! Discovery Center: This percussive museum offers a unique experience for visitors of all ages.

• Victory Field: Victory Field is the best ballpark for minor league baseball in the country.

• Crown Hill Cemetery: Crown Hill is the final resting place for famous leaders, playwrights, criminals, authors, generals, and soldiers. Many believe it to be haunted.

• GRT Glass Design: This studio manufactures a variety of glass art goods. It also offers Glass Play classes to students and residences.

• Fort Harrison State Park: This park offers multiple trails. It is also home to the Museum of 20th Century Warfare.

• Museum of Psychphonics: The Museum of Psychphonics offers insight into obscure cultures. It is known for its unconventional design.

• Children’s Museum of Indianapolis: The Children’s Museum offers many interactive exhibitions that will keep children entertained.

• The Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library: The Kurt Vonnegut Museum is a great place to find out about the author’s life.

• White Rabbit Cabaret: The White Rabbit Cabaret offers all kinds of small performances. Find out what’s going on there when you’re in town.

• Lockerbie Square Historic District: The Historic District offers 25 residences built between 1855 and 1930. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
